Gopal Dayaneni is awarded the Faculty Award for Excellence in Community Engaged Learning
Congratulations to Gopal Dayaneni on being selected as this year’s recipient of the Faculty Award for Excellence in Community Engaged Learning at SF State’s Annual Civic and Community Engagement Awards. Nominated by his colleagues, this award acknowledges and celebrates Gopal's commitment to engagement with Bay Area communities through experiential learning. This award acknowledges his exceptional contributions to institutionalizing service learning at SF State and within our College.
His innovative approach to teaching, evidenced by the course "Community Engaged Learning: Praxis in Race and Resistance Studies," has had a profound impact on student learning outcomes and community partnerships. Through his efforts, Gopal has brought grassroots organizations into the community-engaged learning movement, providing students with valuable opportunities to address community issues and seek solutions. His dedication to reflective teaching methods and intentional student engagement has resulted in significant outcomes for both students and the communities they serve. By fostering group work and critical reflection exercises, he has inspired students to develop a civic identity and lifelong commitment to community engagement.
