Are you interested in learning more about mass incarceration from the perspective of race and class? Then enroll in RRS 252,Beyond bars and borders: Race & the Carceral State!

In this class, we'll learn how working-class people of color in the US and around the world have historically challenged the capitalist world system. We will explore how political and economic elites in the US have reacted by turning towards pro-capitalist reforms (i.e. neoliberalism) and growing the criminal punishment system.

We'll also learn how mass incarceration negatively impacts the people and communities that experience incarceration, as well as some alternative ways to produce safety and justice in working-class communities.
