ASSERTING INDIGENOUS SOVEREIGNTY: Defending Indigenous Land Rights
April 24, 2024 | 3:30-5:30 p.m.
Knuth Hall, Creative Arts Bldg.
Join us for a dynamic panel of Indigenous land stewards and land defenders working to protect, preserve and restore their
ancestral and native homelands, foodways and lifeways. While working to protect their lands and peoples from abuse, they also
stand in solidarity with Indigenous Rights and Land Defenders everywhere. This panel features Gregg Castro from the Ramaytush Cultural Association; Miskitu land defender Jose Coleman; Tongan poet, organizer and farmer, Loa Nuimeitolu; and Professor of Indigenous Sustainability, Melissa K. Nelson.
Sponsored by: The Department of Race and Resistance Studies (RRS), Critical Pacific Islander and Oceania Studies (CPIOS), the Department of American Indian Studies (AlS), and the Climate Justice Leadership Initiative (Climate HQ)
