Bio

Charity DaMarto is a lecturer at San Francisco State University in the College of Ethnic Studies through the Metro program. She also is a part-time faculty at Laney College in Oakland in the Ethnic Studies and Sociology departments. She obtained her undergraduate degree in Sociology Anthropology at Mills College and her Master’s degree in Ethnic Studies at San Francisco State. Ms. DaMarto worked for Berkeley Unified School District for 15 years advocating and fighting for POC families and students. Her teaching pedagogy is being of service to her students and meeting them academically where they are at. Developing the student’s skills in writing, analysis and critical thinking with an intersectional lens. She believes that attaining an education is a liberatory practice and a step towards decolonizing our minds to live our best lives, with a strong sense of our history and the history of our backgrounds.
