Rowena has Bachelor’s degrees in Sociology and Economics; a Master’s of Education in Education Policy, Organization, and Management; and a PhD in Ethnic Studies—all awarded from the University of California, Berkeley. She has taught at the university level for nearly 20 years in Ethnic Studies, Asian American Studies, Education, and Sociology. Rowena is a consultant to non-profits and funders as well as a editor and coach to doctoral students. She is passionate about building bridges between academia and the classroom and local communities. Rowena was raised in San Francisco and the East Bay and currently lives in Oakland.
